What Makes Me, "Me"

3D Modeling & Printing

At Rutgers, I started learning the basics of 3D printing, experimenting with the university’s printer to develop my skills. While in Massachusetts, I decided to purchase my own 3D printer, and it turned out to be the best investment of my life. Using it, I’ve honed my SolidWorks and CAD skills to a professional level and tackled numerous roller coaster projects. Beyond that, I’ve had a blast learning the ins and outs of maintaining the machine.

I now use my 3D printer to solve all kinds of problems. For example, when a wall hanger in my home was too close to the wall to function properly, I quickly designed and printed a customized fix. It’s become my go-to tool for creative and practical solutions. I highly recommend a 3D printer to all engineers—it’s an invaluable resource for problem-solving and innovation.

Diving

I first started gymnastics when I was younger but quickly realized I didn’t enjoy falling on the ground. That led me to try diving—falling into water instead—but little did I know, it was even scarier! I started diving in 8th grade, and thanks to my gymnastics background, I picked it up quickly, learning both springboard and platform techniques.

By sophomore year, my friend from club diving and I co-founded our high school’s diving team. Competing against other schools, we earned numerous wins and grew the sport at our school. Although I don’t dive as much anymore, I believe the experience molded a lot of my perseverant attitude and taught me the value of pushing through fear and challenges.

PC Building

I started building PCs during COVID-19, when staying home gave me the chance to dive into the world of custom computer building. My first build was in 2020, just a few months into the pandemic, and I also helped my brother build his PC around the same time. Since then, I’ve built four PCs: my old one, my brother’s, a friend’s, and now my current rig.

What fascinated me most about PC building was learning the technical aspects, like temperature regulation, fluid flow rates, and configuring optimal cooling settings for peak performance. When my Twitch channel began gaining momentum, I upgraded my old PC to an absolute beast of a machine, designed to handle everything I needed. I’m forever grateful to my community for their support, which allowed me to have a job during that time that was not only incredibly fun but also deeply enjoyable.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding is my absolute favorite sport! I started skiing when I was 8 and made the switch to snowboarding at 14, and I’ve never looked back. Over the past 8 years, I’ve grown to love the thrill of carving down the mountain, especially when I’m surrounded by friends, crisp cold air, and breathtaking scenery. I usually spend my time in the terrain park, honing my skills and learning new tricks on the boxes and ramps.

Squib (My Cat)

The cat distribution system finally chose me, and I’ve been raising my kitten, Squib, since he was just 6–7 weeks old. Squib is a Bombay cat with a unique twist—he’s polydactyl, with 7 toes on one paw and 6 on the other! Despite being allergic to cats, I’ve managed to care for him with a regiment of allergy pills and daily cleaning. Over time, I even developed a tolerance to the allergen. While I always loved dogs, Squib completely changed my perspective, and now I can’t imagine life without him. He’s a handful at times, but he’s also the best heat pack for when I am working at my desk. I feel so blessed to have him and am already planning to adopt a brother for him in the future.

Art

Ever since I was young, I’ve had an affinity for art. My perfectionist side drove me to learn as much as possible and create true masterpieces. In elementary school, I was even one of the finalists for the cover art of the yearbook. From there, my artistic journey expanded as I explored various forms of art, including photo realism, sewing, embroidery, miniature modeling, crocheting, and screen printing.

One of my favorite art pieces is a snowboard I recently created, themed after my friend’s favorite show. While I may work slowly, I always ensure that my art is as perfect as possible. Art is an activity I truly enjoy and cherish whenever I have the time to dedicate to it.
